Westbrook village fine arts association

The Westbrook Village Fine Arts Association is open to all homeowners of Westbrook Village in Peoria, Arizona.
There are 70 to 80 members annually, and membership is from October through May with annual dues of $25.00
per person,  payable in October.

Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month in the Fine Arts Room in the F.A.L.C. building of the Vistas of WBV.
Art classes and field trips are scheduled at various times throughout the year.  Demonstrations and hands-on workshops are often provided by well-known Arizona artists.  Membership entitles you to monthly demos (Oct to April) and free use of the Fine Arts studio room throughout the year.

Our Westbrook Village Fine Art Show and Sale is held in the spring and is open to all dues paying members.  A popular feature of the show is the silent auction of miniatures donated by member artists.

Below is a summary of our activities...

Art Classes:

Scheduled art classes are announced prior to the first meeting of the year (2nd Wednesday of October).   Workshop opportunities are also announced in the Westbrook Village Lifestyles magazine.

Meeting & Programs:
Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month (Oct. - May) from 1:30 to 3:30 PM at the Fine Arts Building  at the Vista’s in the Fine Arts Room (behind the Sheriff’s Office).  Any resident can attend one meeting for free so he/she can decide if they want to join.  An email is sent to all members to remind them of the meeting.   Refreshments are served and friends meet and talk with each other prior to the meeting.   An artist’s demo or a hands-on workshop experience is often scheduled.  Meetings generally have 40 to 50 members attending.  A “ Calendar of Events”  is distributed at the first meeting and is available throughout the year.

Painting Groups & Equipment:
There is always a group in the Fine Arts Room on Monday mornings (9 AM  to noon) sharing the joy of painting.  Other groups/individual artists paint throughout the week enjoying the flexibility of the art room.  A  library of art magazines and art books are available. Equipment consists of floor and table easels, mat cutter, encaustic kit and iron, old newspapers, water containers, large ruler, printer etc.  Members bring their own paints, paper/canvas, brushes, paper towels, and any materials needed for the production of their work. It is helpful for members to have a portable storage container or case-on-wheels for hauling their own materials back and forth from home.  Some artists rent cabinet space in the fine arts room (based on availability).

Annual Art Show:
This weekend event held in mid March is open to all members who can submit up to five pieces in each of two categories.  (2 dimensional and 3 dimensional.   Publicized in local magazines and newspapers attendance grows each year.   Art work is judged by independent judges and ribbons are awarded.  The Artist’s Reception on Friday night is by invitation only and is attended by more than 300 guests each year who enjoy the festive atmosphere while purchasing affordable art.  Most of the artwork is for sale in mediums including watercolor, acrylic, oil, mixed media, sculpture, fused glass, textiles and collage.  Miniatures are donated by participating arts and are auctioned off silently over the course of three days.
